“In the future a NGO won’t be able to maintain itself on projects and donations – it will need sustainability. To this end, it must create and develop its own business product which, in addition to being profitable, speaks for the cause of the organization.”
This was shared by Kostadin from WWF Bulgaria – one of the participants in “Entrepreneurship for Non-Profit Organizations” 2018/2019. The idea of the organization for a board game which encourages environmentally friendly behavior among young and old received support for its development and soon anyone will be able to become an “ECO Hero” in the game.
With bells on, with interesting ideas and ready for action 11 new organizations will participate in the 9th edition of the “Entrepreneurship for Non-Profit Organizations” 2019/2020 Program. А series of workshops which will help them to improve their business plans and presentation skills lie ahead of them as well as the opportunity to participate in the “Best Business Plan of a NGO” Competition. For the awarded in the competition the Program continues with mentoring and practical trainings on the way of realization of their ideas. The 11 organizations are:

Up to now the Program has educated more than 170 organizations how to develop their ideas into business plans. We have invested more than 195 000 BGN in realization of the best ideas and the entrepreneur initiatives of the award winners from the Program have accumulated more than 430 000 BGN of profit thanks to our support.
The finalists in the 8th edition of the Program who received support for the realization of their ideas of a business with a cause are: the “Future for our Children” Association with their idea for a “Cookie Workshop” in which young adults with mental disabilities to work; the “Initiative for Social Empowerment” (ISE) Foundation with their idea for manufacturing and selling of herbal art products by women from vulnerable groups; the “Our Premature Children” Foundation with their idea for expanding the scope of services offered by Family Center “Little Miracles”; the “Operation Teddy Bear” Association with their idea for manufacturing and selling of branded goods to support a mentor program for development of talented children and youngsters ; WWF Bulgaria with their idea for developing and selling of a board game which encourages sustainable lifestyle.
