We already know the winners in the Competition „Best Business Plan of NGO“ for 2019

On February 16, 2019 in Serdika Center was held this year's award ceremony for rewarding the winners in the competition "Best Business Plan of NGOs". The event is part of the Program "Entrepreneurship for Non-Profit Organizations" 2018/2019 of the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law, implemented with the support of „America for Bulgaria“ Foundation, in partnership with UniCredit Bulbank and Telus International Europe. The program is held for the eighth consecutive year aiming to support civil society organizations in the development of business activities related with their mission - to be more sustainable and independent, and to achieve better impact through their work.

The ceremony takes place during the two-day Bazaar of the social enterprises „A Little means a Lot“: Shop with a cause (16 and 17 February) at the shopping mall. Social enterprises from Sofia and the country participate in the bazaar and some of them have been supported in previous editions of the program. Both the competition and the bazaar are annual initiatives of the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law aimed at creating a stimulating environment for entrepreneurship for the non-profit organizations and, at the same time, providing space that can make the meaning of their work more recognizable by the people.

The members of the jury this year were:

  • Viktoria Blazheva (Unicredit Bulbank)
  • Georgi Breskovski (Microfund Joint-stock company)
  •  Dimitar Kolev (Accenture Bulgaria)
  • Diana Trifonova, („America for Bulgaria“ Foundation)
  • Kristina Ivanova (TELUS International Europe)
  • Nadya Obretenova (Bulgarian national television)

Each of the winning organizations received a check for 8 000 leva. Here they are and the ideas with which they won the hearts of the jury:

  • "Our Premature Children" Foundation - additional equipment of the Family Center "Little Wonders" and increasing the scope of the services by providing permanent employment of specialists.
  • „Operation Teddy Bear" Association – branding and sale of promotional materials and goods, the proceeds of which will be invested in the mentoring program of the organization to encourage the development of talented children and young people. The goods are branded with art works of participants in the mentoring program.
  • “Initiative for Social Empowerment” Foundation (ISE) – production and sale of herbal art products from natural materials made from vulnerable groups of women - victims of human traffic and violence, disabled women, of Roma origin or refugees. They are trained and receive the necessary support for empowerment and independence.
  • WWF Bulgaria - developing, designing, producing and distributing of a board game which is both exciting and entertaining, as well as encouraging a sustainable lifestyle and business.
  • "Future for the Children" Association – making and decorating of boutique sweets and crackers. Young people with intellectual disabilities are involved in the making of the treats under various forms of trainings and employment.

The competition is a stage in the overall program “Entrepreneurship for Non-Profit Organizations”. It involves organizations that have undergone specialized trainings through which they have developed and upgraded their business plans. This year, 43 ideas for business with a cause from the whole country applied for participating in the program.

 

The Program „Entrepreneurship for Non-Profit Organizations“ 2018/2019 happens with the financial  support of America for Bulgaria Foundation and in partnership with TELUS International Europe and UniCredit Bulbank.
