Civic Alarm Clock Festival 2025: a celebration of rights, art, and community

On August 30, Sofia woke up once again to art, music, and powerful messages about our rights – the fifth edition of the Civic Alarm Clock festival brought together over 1000 citizens for a whole day dedicated to freedom, activism, and the creative energy of the community.

A cozy space under the thick shade of the trees in South Park came to live with workshops for children and adults, music and dance performances, challenges and games, as well as meetings with authors of socially engaged works and many opportunities for conversations about how to protect and exercise our civil rights.

It was particularly exciting that many parents with children actively participated in the program. Together, they drew, made posters, participated in interactive games, and discovered new, creative ways to think and talk about values such as freedom of speech, association, justice, and solidarity.

Throughout the day, festival guests had the opportunity to see the works that won awards in the last seven editions of the socially engaged art competition “Civic Alarm Clock” and to become part of the artistic installations and initiatives that clearly show how art can inspire change.

The festival proved once again that when we bring together art, community, and cause, something more than a cultural event happens – a celebration of civic energy happens.

Thank you to everyone who was with us!

With your support, Civic Alarm Clock continues to be the place where art meets rights and civic activism takes on new forms and voices.

During the festival, we managed to raise over 800 BGN, which will directly support the event next year! We thank everyone who recognized the meaning of this!
