60 organisations applied to this year’s edition of the Program for Social Entrepreneurship

60 organisations sent their applications for participation in this year’s edition of the Program for Social Entrepreneurship. The number of interested applicants increased in comparison to last year where 48 organisations applied.

The initiative is organised for the fourth consecutive year by the Bulgarian Centre for Not-for-Profit Law (BCNL) and UniCredit Foundation, supported by Foundation “America for Bulgaria”. The purpose of the initiative is to aid nongovernmental organisations in the planning and execution of their profit activities.

Organisations from all over the country applied, where Sofia was with most representatives (30). Documents for participation were submitted as well by organisations from Varna, Bourgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Rouse, Dobrich, Lovech, Gabrovo, Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Samokov, Stara Zagora, Devin, Sozopol, and the village of Zvanichevo.

The applications could be arranged in a few major categories: social, health, education, sport, ecology, civil society, support for young people, women, and children, entrepreneurship, culture, etc. The most applications were received within the social category (14), followed by civil society, education and culture.

The approved candidates will be announced at the end of August 2015. In October two training seminars will be held within the framework of the Program. After that the participants will have three months to develop a business plan during which the experts of BCNL will be available for free consultation whenever necessary. The best business plans will be presented in front of a jury in February 2016 and the winners will be awarded 30 000 BGN (to be shared among the winners).
