Digital democracy
In the age of digitalisation, technology plays a key role in widening access to democratic processes and stimulating active citizen participation. At the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law we focus our efforts on creating and promoting innovative digital tools that facilitate interaction between citizens, institutions and organizations.
Our mission is to promote the development of digital democracy by:
- Trainings and resources – We organize workshops and events that inform civil society organizations and activists about the modern opportunities offered by digital technologies.
- Participatory platforms – We support the development of online tools that enable citizens to express their opinions, report and participate in public policy debates.
- Research and best practices – We collect and analyse experiences from other countries to adapt successful models of digital democracy to the Bulgarian context.
- Promoting transparency – We support digital governance and open data initiatives that increase the accountability of institutions.
Our projects in this area, such as the digital democracy training series and the development of digital platforms, show how technology can be a tool for citizen engagement and empowerment.
BCNL believes that digital democracy is not just the future, but the present of effective citizen participation. Through our initiatives, we aim to provide every citizen and organization with the tools they need to actively participate in the development of society.
