A new regulation on the terms and manner of issuing permits for performing non-profit activities by foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria came in effect on 30.08.2002.

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Bulgaria passed Regulation No 1 from 15.08.2002 on the terms and manner of issuing permits for performing non-profit activities by foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria. (Published: State Gazette No 81, August 23, 2002 – in force from August 30, 2002.)

According to the regulation, for performing non-profit activity, an application with the relevant documents should be submitted to the Minister of Justice through the diplomatic and consular authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The permit for performing non-profit activity or the renewal of the permit for performing such an activity is issued by the Minister of Justice for a one year term.
The information for every foreigner performing non-profit activity is recorded in a separate register in the Central Registry of Non-profit Legal Entities at the Ministry of Justice.
