PUBLIC ATTITUDES TOWARDS CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS 2020

The underlying rationale in the public attitudes is: while the state and the CSOs should continuously exert pressure on the state in this process, as the latter a priori is prone to abuses of citizens' rights.

This is one of the key conclusions drawn from the national representative survey Public attitudes towards civil society organizations, led in June 2020.

Significant growth in support of NGO, compared to 2018.

Surprising result turned out to be the increased trust of people towards civil society organizations. The research further marks growth in support of NGO sector in 3 quite important courses:

– Appreciation of its role of supporting society development and protecting people’s interests;

– Trust in civil society organizations;

– The efficiency of NGO's participation in problem solving in key public spheres.

Although the research was done way before the beginning of the wave of protests against governing party and the Chief Prosecutor, one can clearly see indications for the already started process of delegitimization of the state's ability to execute some of its basic functions.
