The Wonderful Garden of the “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker” Foundation Dobrich

In this Garden flowers and vegetables are grown. They are being grown by 22 young people with disabilities. There is no other social company in Bulgaria employing that many people with disabilities. This makes it unique. Most of the employed young people are estranged from their families – abandoned by their families in foster care.

This young people are abandoned by most employers as well who deny working with people with disabilities. But here, in the Wonderful Garden, this young people belong – they are being called “our people.” “Our people” work hard – 5 greenhouses, 30 kinds of summer flowers, 2 acres of cabbage, fruit and decorative saplings … It is a desirable place for the people of Dobrich – quality and ecofriendly goods; the boys and girls producing them are nice and hardworking and will even offer you to get your children on the tracktor. The spirits are high. “Our people” are happy having a job which they like and receiving a salary and happy being together and others valuing them.

However, the salaries suffer – clients stay at home, markets are closed. Our young people have a solution – the production is donated to social facilities, kindergartens and elderly people. But they need support. The funding from SAVE the SAVIORS will guarantee that “our people” won’t be left without an income during the crisis. And the smiles will remain there even behind masks.
