Fundraising School for NGOs 2024 – training for beginners in fundraising
Fundraising is an art that is learned by doing. Like in any other craft, apart from being very persistent and super optimistic, it is important to start from the basics. Mastering the basics of fundraising is a key step along the path of any civic organization's development – to achieve its causes, scale its supporters, and be financially independent.
Fundraising School for NGOs is an intensive 2-day training course that will help you develop your skills, gain basic knowledge about fundraising and practice your first steps in donation raising.
The training will take place on 20 and 21 May 2024 in Sofia. The program combines theoretical lectures and practical tasks for fundraising from individual and corporate donors. The organizer of the training course is the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law.
Application deadline: until 7 May 2024, inclusive
See application conditions below.
What are the topics of Fundraising School for NGO 2024?
STEPS IN FUNDRAISING
"Fundraising is … ?". During the program we will present fundraising through the most important steps in the fundraising process – donors, donations, environment, mechanisms and most of all – why it is important to invest efforts in developing such activity.
A CASE FOR SUPPORT
Did you know that one of the most common reasons nonprofits don't receive donations is because they are not asking?!? A cause for support, an appeal for a donation, a partnership proposal – they all have one main purpose – to get our need for support to the heart of the potential donor and grab them. We will give you ideas on how to structure your cause presentation and share with you some important tips from practice on how to prepare, how to be persuasive, and you will practice putting your new skills into practice.
FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES FROM CORPORATE AND INDIVIDUAL DONORS
In addition to preparing the best presentation of your cause, it is equally important to choose the right way to present it to your prospective donors – individual or corporate. In two separate sessions, we will teach you how to reach the heart of potential donors. We will also inspire you with examples from Bulgaria of successful fundraising campaigns and practical tips in the process of organizing them. You will have the opportunity to bet on your knowledge and competitive spirit to feel like a winner.
DIGITAL FUNDRAISING
Organising donation campaigns always goes hand in hand with publicly communicating the cause and how donors can support the initiative. However, the information noise in the digital space is so great that we need to look for new and different ways in which to communicate our messages effectively. Experienced experts will share inspiring examples of communication strategies that combine social media channels with traditional media.
LEGAL ASPECTS OF SOLICITING DONATIONS
We will also pay special attention to the legal requirements for reporting and documenting donations. In this part of the program we will present how fundraising differs from other ways of raising resources from NGOs (sponsorships, grants, etc.).
TRAINING
At the Fundraising School, everything you will hear, you will have the chance to practise in the moment. Experienced experts help you through the training process.
