More than 50 organizations from across the country expressed their willingness to develop social entrepreneurship

●      Candidatures in the contest for the best business plan for a non-governmental organization marked a growth in comparison to previous years.
●     Since this year the organizers from Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law Foundation and PACEL Foundation will work in partnership with UniCredit Foundation and UniCredit Bulbank.

55 organizations from around the country have expressed their willingness to develop social entrepreneurship. They have applied for the Program for social entrepreneurship for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) 2013-2014, organized by Bulgarian Centre for Not-For-Profit Law Foundation, PACEL Foundation, UniCredit Foundation and “America for Bulgaria” Foundation. The Program is held for the third consecutive year.

The largest number of candidates was from Sofia (32), but there were also applicant organizations from other big cities from across the country (Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Vratza, Shumen, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Veliko Turnovo, Lovech, Pazardzhik, Targovishte) and from smaller settlements ( Dupnitza, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Bratzigovo, Bulgarovo, village of Vlahi , village of Strashimirovo, village of Skloshtitsa). A lot of volunteers were also involved by organizations in their activities.

Ideas for development of related economic activities, described by candidates , may be grouped into the following thematic areas:
٠ providing specialized educational services for children ( part-time studies, mobile training centers, etc.) and social services for people of various vulnerable groups;
٠ sale of products – own production (development of a garden center, workshops for folk costumes, specialized items for pets, craft activities, restaurant, provision of hotel and tourism services, ets);
٠on-line stores for services and products, development of software solutions, informational and advertising websites;

The deadline for submission of applications was 28`th of June. To the end of August a committee will select the program participants among the candidatures.

At the end of September and the beginning of October training courses will be organized for selected participants on how to start a social entrepreneurship, then they will receive support in developing business plans. Experts of UniCredit Bulbank will be involved as volunteers in the trainings, organized for representatives of foundations.


Each of the program participants will also have the opportunity to participate in the contest for the best business plan of NGO with a prize fund of 15 000 EUR, provided by UniCredit Foundation and “America for Bulgaria” Foundation.
