Civil Society Law Fellowship

2009 – 2010

Objective: The project “Civil Society Law Fellowship” aims to improve the knowledge on NGO legislation, to create cross-border contacts and to establish a mechanism for exchange of information and expertise between the countries of the Black Sea region. In addition, it supports BCNL’s strategic development and contacts in the region.

 

The objectives of the project will be achieved through:

  • Identifying NGOs promoting better NGO legal framework in each Black Sea countries;
  • Organizing an internship/fellowship program on civil society law for NGO representatives of the Black Sea countries;
  • Compiling country information on the most important topics relevant to NGO legislation in the Black Sea region;
  • Creating a website with information on NGO legislation and a database of NGOs working in the area in each country;
  • Organizing a regional meeting that will bring together NGO representatives from the Black Sea countries.

 

Expected results:

The expected short – term results are: a database of NGOs promoting a better NGO legal framework in their countries; increased knowledge on NGO legislation for 8 fellows – individuals interested in improving the NGO environment in their countries; collected up–to–date information on NGO legislation in the target countries; a special section on our website providing information on the NGO law framework in the Black Sea countries; 1 regional meeting organized with 20 participants who will have a possibility for exchange of information on NGO law issues; BCNL will have a better knowledge of the issues each country faces and will have created contacts with experts and organizations in the Black Sea countries, interested in NGO law reform.

The anticipated long- term results will be increased capacity of NGOs from the target countries on NGO legislation; possibility for cooperation and sharing the BCNL experience in other countries; improved NGO legal framework in the Black Sea countries.
