.The best offers for starting a new business, related to their own mission,
worked out by non-profit organizations will receive a cash prize from the prize
fund of the contest to use it as an initial investment.
„BCNL`s program for social entrepreneurship aims
to support NGOs to develop business initiatives which could help them to
achieve their missions. In this way organizations receive funds that
support vulnerable groups or causes that defend. According to us investment in
good business ideas guarantees long-term sustainability and financial
independence of NGOs” explains
Luben Panov – program director of BCNL.
“UniCredit Foundation supports the development of the concept of social
entrepreneurship for several reasons. Firstly, we think this is a very good way
for foundations to ensure a part of their funding while working for their
causes at the same time” said Maurizio Carrara, Chairman of UniCredit
Foundation. He explained that social entrepreneurship focuses on natural propensity
of companies to be economically and financially stable, producing goods and
services for the society while providing employment.
“We highly appreciate the fact that UniCredit Foundation selects
Bulgarian projects to donate. So far, it has invested nearly 800 000 lv. in
Bulgaria and we believe that the success of the projects in resolving important
social needs will attract more donations from the Foundation. Social
entrepreneurship is one of the most important world tendencies particularly in
connection with the crisis and by the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-profit Law
and UniCredit Foundation we want to give one more tool in the hands of
ambitious and business thinking Bulgarians to implement sustainable projects
over time” said Levon Hampartsumian , CEO and Chairman of the Management
Board of Bulbank.
He reminded that in
America NGO sector is no longer reliant on donations and donors and this way of
working is history. According to “Idealist” in 2007 about 67% of income of NGOs
are provided by activities in social entrepreneurship.
