UniCredit Foundation will support 70 000 € the social entrepreneurship program organized by BCNL
UniCredit Foundation will be among the organizers of the program for social entrepreneurship for non-profit organizations for 2013 – 2014. For the third year the contest, organized by Bulgarian Center for Not-For-Profit Law (BCNL) in cooperation with the Foundation PACEL aims to gather and honor the best business plans, prepared by foundations and associations.

In the archeological reserve “Yailata” nearby Kavarna begins a construction, alarm the local media. Local media alarm: It begins a construction in the archeological reserve “Yailata” nearby Kavarna. The activists of an environmental organization immediately react: the construction has to be stopped by activating public opinion in the region, organizing meetings with experts who could explain what kind of breaches have been made, interceding with local and central government under whoso authority is resolving the issue. Inspections by responsible institutions have been caused after series of actions of environmentalists and they prove series of infringements of the Law on Spatial Planning and Biodiversity Law and also impose sanctions on the offenders. Ultimately the concrete construction was declared illegal and ordered its removal.

On December 11, 2012 the EU Parliament endorsed the first ever EU official policy on digital freedoms, Resolution on A Digital Freedom Strategy in EU foreign policy. Ms. Marietje Schaake, a Dutch MEP, and the Rapporteur on Parliament’s policy in her speech at the Parliament emphasized the need to include digital freedoms in EU’s conditionality, importance of providing people access to ICT and using ICT during such political events as elections, significance of more transparency and accountability in terms of technology export.

ICNL welcomes the adoption of a UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution that further strengthens the protection of freedom of association and assembly. Among other provisions, the resolution reiterates state obligations to protect these rights online and offline, and requests that the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of assembly and of peaceful association present reports annually to the United Nations General Assembly.
